Our story

Welcome.

Salvage Europe sources and imports new and reclaimed French oak, stone and terracotta from Europe. Our search takes us from old barns and chateaux in rural France to historic buildings across Italy.

Every piece we find already has a history. Our job is to bring it to your project with that history intact.

James Ruig

James Ruig

Over 35 years, James built Salvage Europe into the largest reclaimed wood company in the Southern Hemisphere. His search for exceptional salvaged materials began long before reclaimed timber was a trend, driven by a deep respect for old materials and traditional craft.

We are honest dealers. We buy directly from the source, and our team inspects and selects every piece to meet our standards of quality and integrity. Materials arrive in their natural, weathered state, or we lay them out and finish them at our shop to suit your project.

If you're here, you probably care about things that last: floors that have already stood for centuries, beams with the adze marks still in them, stone worn smooth by generations. So do we.
